The Nightwatch

The Nightwatch - Sergei Lukyanenko, Andrew Bromfield The Night Watch is in place to keep an eye on the Dark, and this book follows Anton Gorodetsky through his first missions in the field after being employed as a programmer.

The book is split into three separate stories. Plots and counter-plots abound as he tries to be more than a pawn in the game being played between the two sides.

Anton is a good character and the book is written in the first person from his perspective. It's an interesting view of Russia with vampires, werewolves, shape-changers and magicians.

Quite introspective, possibly due to it's Russian origins, raising questions about who decides what is good/Light or bad/Dark.
