The Night Watch is in place to keep an eye on the Dark, and this book follows Anton Gorodetsky through his first missions in the field after being employed as a programmer.

The book is split into three separate stories. Plots and counter-plots abound as he tries to be more than a pawn in the game being played between the two sides.

Anton is a good character and the book is written in the first person from his perspective. It's an interesting view of Russia with vampires, werewolves, shape-changers and magicians.

Quite introspective, possibly due to it's Russian origins, raising questions about who decides what is good/Light or bad/Dark.
