He soon discovers that the extra body wasn't killed in the hangings, but has been murdered.
Into the mix comes Hugh Beringar, with his own agenda, to ally himself with Stephen's cause.
Is he going to be ally or adversary to Cadfael?
(There'll be no surprise to anyone who has read the books or seen the TV series).
A good mystery with plenty going on among the different sides of the civil war. It was interesting to see Beringar's first appearance.
