Magician (Voyager Classics)
A story spanning quite a period of time. Pug starts as an apprentice to a magician then finds himself elevated to court as strange invaders start a prolonged war.A lot happens, the characters are well done and the enemy are suitably different.
The main characters grow into their role. Even in the early stages of the book they all have a definite part to fill.
It can be a bit predictable in some places but overall the story moves at a good clip making you want to read just one more chapter to see what happens next.
