Neuromancer (Sprawl Trilogy, #1)

Neuromancer (Sprawl Trilogy, #1) - William Gibson This was the book that put cyberpunk on the map, taking a Blade Runner dystopian future and filling it with cyber-jockies and street samurai.

Case had been one of the best at his job, until he tried to fence some of the data for his own profit. After the original customers worked him over, he can't work a deck any more so is hustling through taking more dangerous jobs.

He jumps at a second chance, but what he has to crack is bigger than anyone else has done before.

Good characters, their backgrounds come through in the slang they use. Interesting locations.
Gibson gives good descriptions of the cyberspace that Case inhabits, without going into any techno-babble.
